In order to be able to hit a golf ball correctly, you first have to know how to grip a golf club. Gripping the golf club correctly will allow you to hit the ball with more power and accuracy. Your grip with the club is your one and only connection between your body and the club. That’s why it’s very important to grip the club the right way.

One of the biggest reasons why many golfers can’t get enough power on their swings is because they grip the club too much in the palm of their hands. You want to grip the club more with your fingers. That way you can get a hinge action when you hit through the ball. This action will create more power.

To get the proper grip on the golf club, hold the club out in front of you and place it in your top grip hand. The club should be at the bottom of your pinkie and then travel up at an angle until it is at the top joint of your index finger.

If you’re right-handed your left hand will be your top or lead hand and if you are left-handed your right hand will be your lead hand.

Once you have your fingers properly placed on the club, next you want to wrap your thumb around the shaft and grip the club on the backside of the club’s shaft. That is how to grip a golf club with your top hand.

Obviously the next step is you need to grip the golf club with your other hand. There are three basic grips you can choose to use: the 10 finger group, the interlocking grip, or the overlapping grip.

The 10 finger grip is very similar to how you would grip a baseball bat. Start with gripping the club with your lead hand (as discussed earlier). Then place your lower hand, also called the trailing hand, with the pinkie as close to the index finger of lead head as possible. Cover the thumb of your lead hand in the fist of your bottom hand.

The interlocking grip involves you actually locking the index finger of your lead hand with the pinkie of your bottom hand. Be sure to place your lead hand correctly on the club and also make sure you cover the thumb on your lead hand with the grip of your bottom hand.

The overlapping grip is similar to the interlocking grip. However, instead of locking fingers, you actually place the pinkie of your trailing hand between the index finger and middle finger of your lead hand. Once again, you want the thumb of your lead hand to be covered by the grip of your bottom hand.

Of all the three grips, the 10 finger grip is least preferred by golf instructors. However, it’s often the easiest grip for beginners to use. The overlapping grip is the hardest golf grip but is the most popular among most of the golfing greats. The interlocking grip provides good support and allows people with smaller hands and weaker wrists to control the club better.

There are three basic ways how to grip a golf club with both hands but the lead hand should always be positioned in the same spot. Otherwise, no matter what type of grip you use and how great a swing you may have, your golf shots still won’t be great.

One of the most common problems that every golfer, newbies or veterans, encounter is finding the proper way to swing a golf club. In most cases, golfers believe that swinging a golf club would entail strength and prowess. What they do not know is that this technique simply does not work.

Here are some of the proper ways to swing a golf club.

1. The power is in your stance

Most golfers are not aware that the most important factor in delivering the proper golf swing is a superior stance. This does not necessarily mean that standing tall and erect can be considered a good stance.

Proper stance includes positioning your body to the proper angle according to your swimming preference. For instance, if you are a left-handed golfer, it is best that you position your left side tilted at a lower level than the right. In this way, the “ball portion” of your feet will uniformly hold up your weight.

2. Selecting the right club

Not all clubs were created equal. Surely, you know that by now. Hence, one of the most important factors to consider when swinging a golf club is to select the right club for the right swing under the right circumstances.

If you happen to use a wrong golf club, chances are your golf swing will be a disaster.

3. Improve your grip

This is the next problem that every golfer encounters when swinging his or her golf clubs. In fact, it is one of the main causes of hand injuries in golfers.

The key here is to concentrate on the proper way of establishing your grip. It should not be too wobbly or too firm. The grip should be based on the hand and not on the fingers. The wrists should be loosened up but not too much.

4. Go with the beat

Who says you cannot dance with the music while you play golf? Don’t you know that one of the greatest factors to be considered in maintaining the proper way to swing a golf club is to go with the beat?

To incorporate pace or tempo into your golf swing will enable you to go over the movement every time you make a swing. In this way, you get to coordinate all of your movements as well as your body parts, such as your hands, fingers, wrists, and stance.

5. Always use clubs with bigger heads for beginners

It is important that every newbie when it comes to golf should try to use clubs with bigger heads. This will make your first swing successful at the least count. Bigger heads enable you to hit the ball on the right spot with the right strength for starters.

This goes to show that included in the proper ways to swing a golf club is the ability to choose the best kind of club. Keep in mind that golfers should buy clubs that were seemingly made for them.

6. The proper way to transfer weight

Weight shifting or transfer is also one of the most important factors to be considered in incorporating the proper way to swing a golf club. It enables the golfer to create extra strength and improve accuracy.

By using all of these guided principles in establishing the proper ways to swing a golf club, you can be sure that the next time you hit the grass and start swinging those balls; you will definitely hit it off the mark.

Proper golf grip is so important because the grip is your only connection with your golf club. You may wonder how to grip a golf club properly. I will try to explain few basic things.

Place your hands properly on the golf club. Well placed hands helps you better control the position of the club’s face. During swing your body turns, since your body is rotating your golf club must rotate at the same time to make perfect swing. Golf club should be like a part of your body.

There are three basic grip types : interlocking, overlapping and baseball grips. Overlapping grip setup is simple , little finger of one hand is placed over the index finger of other hand. Interlocking setup is similar just two fingers will be iterlocked not overlapped. Baseball grip – two fingers do not overlap or interlock they just meet together. If you are wondering which grip type is the best I only could say that they are all good. Just experiment with all three types and then choose the one which is most comfortable to you.

Grip pressure is important too. If your grip is too tense you will lose some yards of the tee. Proper golf grip should be in the middle of really intense grip and extremely loose grip. If you done everything correctly you should have a very accurate shot.

Only by practicing you could know how to grip a golf club properly. You should try all three types of golf grip and practice. Practising is the key to success.

Unless you are playing on the tour, you could probably benefit from some golf swing lessons. The truth is, even the pros get golf swing instructions every once in a while. Golf can be the greatest game in the world or possibly the most frustrating depending on how well you play. The worst thing is when you know you are not playing as well as you could. Sometimes things change in our swing without us knowing it. It can be a small thing, perhaps the result of a minor injury or just a bad habit getting worse. It may be hard for you to fix the golf swing technique yourself because you can not watch yourself while you swing.

That is where the golf pro steps in and golf swing lessons really pay off. The first thing a pro will do is to watch your swing. They are trained to analyze your form and determine what you are doing right and what you need to work on. Unless you are trained in this, it is not easy because a golf swing happens relatively fast. You do not necessarily want to trust the opinion of your friend or a member of your foursome. It is worth paying for an expert’s opinion in this case.

The pro will study your golf swing technique and also listen to you describe what is going wrong. Most people struggle the most with their drive. This is a big deal because a bad drive ruins your chances of doing well on a hole and a bad drive can get worse. Some common things that a pro will look for starts with your stance. He will check that you are lined up correctly when aiming for the ball. A lot of players have a poor stance and then use a bad swing to compensate.

Another common problem that a pro can help with is when people swing too hard. It is a common thing to think that the harder you swing the better, but this is just not true. When you swing too hard, you sacrifice form and that means the ball may go far, but just not in the direction that you want it to go. The pro will have you slow down your swing and work on getting the form right. Starting with a backswing that comes back smoothly and stops just at the right height. Many people over rotate on the backswing which makes their swing out of alignment from the start. Others stop their backswing too short and do not get the full benefit from it.

The same issues apply to the follow through after you hit the ball. Many people think of striking the ball as the end of the job, but it is really just the middle. Your follow through is critical to a solid and consistent gold swing and you need to give it the attention it deserves. A few golf swing lessons with a pro will help you find the trouble spots in your swing. The golf swing instructions from the pro can then give you a list of tips or drills that you can work on by yourself.

If you are at the golfer 101 player level, and have decided to take up the exhilarating task of learning the game with the hopes of enjoying the game for many years to come, you might want to consider taking a few golf lessons.

With someone coaching you the ins and outs of specific golf instructions, you will have an extra set of eyes which will help you get some of the golf swing positions correct, which is not very easy to check on by yourself, even if you had a mirror.

Are Golf Lessons Worth It The Price?

Taking golf lessons is not compulsory. However, consider taking a few lessons early on in your learning experience as a wise choice. Not only will your skillfulness increase at a swift pace, you will make savings which would otherwise have been spent on a new driver or damaged clubs.

What Makes A Good Golf Instructor?

Finding the right golf trainer that is best suited to your knowledge style is imperative. A good trainer should be able to demonstrate his or her lessons to you in a clear and easy-to-understand method. An experienced teacher will be able to consider your current skill level and then analyze your swing in order to make the proper adjustments needed.

A good golf instructor will be able to place you with the golf club so that you can truly understand how a certain swing should feel in your hands. They can help you to fix a slice or cure a fat shot or a thin shot. He or she will be able to analyze your shots and make a proper analysis of any problems that are present in your swing and stance.

Putting is also a weak area for many beginners as it ‘looks easy’ at first. What can be so hard about sinking a little white ball down a hole only 20 yards away? Ag good golf instructor will explain and demonstrate to you different putting tips on how certain puts should be handled.

It is always important that you and your golf instructor have a good rapport as no-one wants to feel uneasy while being taught, as this will distract you from the lesson.

Everyone learns at a different pace, so you need you instructor to be patient if you are a bit slow on learning some techniques.

Other benefits of taking lessons for the golfer 101 consist of:

1. To have all of your questions about golf answered by someone who is an expert.

2. The advantage of having good habits embedded in your game from the get go.

3. Your self-assurance will increase and this will improve all aspects of your game.

4. You will learn techniques and professional practices which would normally take you months or even years to learn on your own.

Did you know that even golf Pros still have lessons?

Just to give you a suggestion of some admired players that still brush up on their game with qualified coaches, here is a small listing to get you motivated:

1. Charles Howell III, Ernie Els, Nick Price, and Nick Faldo have worked with the Golf teacher David Leadbetter.

2. Even Tiger Woods, Greg Norman, and Justin Leonard have worked with the Golf teacher Butch Harmon.

3. Hank Haney specializes in distance and flight of the ball and has worked with Mark O’ Meara. He also is an American professional golf instructor best known for coaching Tiger Woods. Hank Haney has been recognized by Golf Magazine as one of the Top 100 teachers in America since the inception of the list and was selected this year by Golf Digest as number 4 of America’s 50 Greatest Teachers.

Are golf lessons right for you?

Only you can answer that question! Some people swear by them and others say that it makes there game worse.

What other types of golf lessons are there?

Now you can find golf lessons online, golf training videos, and other training aides. But these cannot replace a real live person standing near you, watching your swing.

Gary Fairway

There are many different ways to achieve golf lessons, and many ways to effectively acquire valuable lessons out there. Among the many ways to learn lessons of golf, online golf lessons are one of the fast effective ways to gain knowledge of strategies and techniques. Improving your golf game while realizing your best potential is one great reason to utilize online golf lessons.

Finding the best website for online golf lessons is relatively simple. Perhaps you have already established a comfortable, user-friendly golf website and that site lends you access to online golf lessons. If not, there are many reputable websites from which to choose. Also there are varied means in which to utilize the lessons offered.

Online golf lessons can include tips on how to improve specific aspects of your golf game. Normally on most websites, an overall generalization is provided so that you can see the broad scope of golf. This occurs at first and as you gain more direct knowledge toward where your particular golf game suffers you can find information that will seem personalized.

There will also be valuable information about stance, follow through of an effective swing and the finer points of swing analysis. Online golf lessons can even include time and effort geared toward the mental aspect of the game. As we know golf is a competitive sport in which you are competing against other golfer, the course and most importantly yourself.

In most case online golf lessons are offered on a non-paying basis and are simply included in your favorite golf website. In some cases you may find golf lessons that are presented in acrobat reader formatting and are downloaded into your personal computer at a minimal cost to you. Payment is made in a secure fashion with a credit card. Shopping around to search for the most effective lessons for your level of interest in the sport of golf is of utmost importance. Searching for the perfect lessons for you will serve to keep costs down and also to provide optimal help in areas where you most need it.

Most scenarios where golf lessons are available for free or for a cost in a downloadable format you will be given ample information. This information will be provided to determine if your personal computer has the capacity to down load these various programs. And to assure you that your computer also possess the capabilities to present the lessons in the way they are meant to be viewed.

One benefit from utilizing online golf lessons to improve your golf skills is that you can experience the lessons at your leisure. You can study and practice at your leisure and then too have the lessons handy for reviewing when you forget exactly what was being taught. Once you have improved your golf game and see the results you were hoping to see it is possible you will search for a more specific online lesson for your needs. Knowing where to look and what to expect with effective results will make that search much more pleasant.

I’ve called this article “The Art of Putting”, because if you want to get better at it, it is imperative that you think about it as a visual art and not a technical science. Good putting is performed with the senses, which we can heighten every time we play. You need to see and feel everything and learn to trust your instincts. The more intense your focus is on the line and the greater your commitment to it, the better you will putt. Developing and practicing a solid routine of positive visualization, feel and trust, will give us the structure we need to become better putters and lower our scores. This is what I teach my students through my coaching and the Golf State of Mind mental game audio session.

Putting is where scores are made. If you are an 18 handicapper and you make 36 putts a round (2 per hole) this represents 40% of your total number of strokes. So clearly it is worth dedicating at least as much practice time here as you do on your long and short game. This time is not about simply about perfecting your stroke, it’s about developing acute positive visualization and feel with every putt.

The most important factor in putting well is visualizing and committing to a line. Only you know how hard you are going to hit it, so only you can determine the the line you are going to hit it on. Reading the slopes and understanding how different grasses affect the putt will simply come with experience. The body performs better when the mind is focusing on visual images, instead of words or technical instructions. The mind needs to tell the body what it wants to do, not how to do it. Developing acute visualization of the ball rolling on its line into the hole will give your body all the information it needs to execute a putt well.

With your practice strokes, get into the habit of seeing the ball go in the hole. Whether you pick a spot to aim at or you see the whole putt, ALWAYS visualize holing every putt. Tiger believes he is going to hole every putt no matter how far away he is. If you have read any motivational books about the secrets of successful people, it is having a very positive image of this success that typically differentiates them from people who do not achieve it.You need to start believing you are a good putter and convincing yourself of a positive visual outcome before you strike the golf ball.

If we think about lagging it to the hole, we will miss more putts. I’m not saying you need to be so aggressive that you blow every putt 6 ft past the hole, but always focus on making it. We need a vivid a picture of the ball following its line and dying into the cup. Be so precise that you see the side of the cup the ball will drop in. You are actually playing the putt in your head before you hit the ball and seeing it go in a couple of times will increase your confidence and give you a far greater chance of making it. Use this mental imagery to feel the speed with your practice strokes, which will pre-set the right tempo. Once you are over the ball, you can be confident in the fact that your mind has all the information it needs to allow the body to hit a good putt. Then let the subconscious mind take over and concentrate on a solid strike.

If you can do all these things during your routine, you will have hit a good putt whatever the outcome. Your power of positive visualization will intensify with every putt. Overtime, this process will no doubt lead to better putting, greater confidence and lower scores.

Just change your attitude.

All of the successful golfer who are very keen on putting are always believe that they can be the putting expert. On the other hand, many of golfers who are normally fail to develop their putting always believe that they can not develop their skill, only they can remember is about bad putting experience, but never remember about their success putts.

Apart from what I have mentioned above, successful golfers will always enjoy what they do during the putt and strongly believe that they will definitely be able to make it on every single putt they perform, so what I am trying to say is even though, in reality, you may not be able to do the excellent putts like many experts do, but you definitely be able to think like them.

1. Change your attitude

To have positive attitude about your putt is compulsory. You have to think that you can become a putting expert like others do. Be confident with your putting method and what you have done and believe in your sense of success rather than stick too much in correcting the putting principle. Successful golfers always enjoy their putts and they will never worry about putting result. That means, you will never success in putting if you think you will never put the ball into the whole. So try your best to have positive attitude about your putt, and see whether you eventually improvements.

2. Believe that you can make it

You will never success if you “just” putt and pray for luck to push the ball into the whole. Successful golfers are confident in what they think and believe in what they have done and they are highly expects the excellent result of their putts. Once you have decided on what you are going to do, then stick with it even though you have failed from the previous shots.

3. Be concentrate

One the target is the whole in front of you, so you must concentrate to the target as well as the methods that you are going use. I can say that you have to concentrate on everything that relevant to the putt, start from getting to know the green, choose the line for putting, approaching, targeting, take the shot as well as try to use your sense to help you make decision. If you can do this, you are likely to be successful in putting.

4. confident in your sense and feeling

Ben Crenshaw, one of the most renowned pro golf said that “if you want to good at putting, you have to have a very good mood when you are on the green” Good golfer believe in their sense and feeling rather than principle of putting mechanism. They use their feeling and instinct to decide what to be done rather than using “how to” theories.

5. Use your imagination

Putting also requires your ability to use eyes and vision, so imagination is really important in order to study the green’s “look and feel” about in which direction that you are going to play and enable you to consider about the path of the ball. The more you know about the green, the more opportunity to get a success in putting.

So just what is it about golf that has around 50 million people hooked around the world? It’s proved itself to be the hard drug of the sports world – once those aspiring rookies take their first swing, there’s no stopping them as they turn into club-bearing zombies. Could it be the prestige of playing a rich man’s sport? The equipment is certainly not cheap and golf club membership fees are understandably high for the privilege of wandering those manicured fairways. Or could it be for its association with networking? It’s a great relaxing way of bonding with your buddies or having a business meeting outside the confines of the stuffy boardroom. Last but not least, there’s a lot to be said for the sense of personal accomplishment that comes from a sport of such great skill and precision. Golf is considered the easiest game to learn but the hardest to play; as Sir Winston Churchill put it, “Golf is a game whose aim is to hit a very small ball into an even smaller hole, with weapons singularly ill-designed for the purpose.”

If your own experience of golf consists of helping him out of the front door with his clubs, and you don’t know your bogeys from your birdies, you may like to learn a few interesting facts about golf. It may surprise you to know that the odds of making a hole in one have been estimated at 1 in 8,606, yet American golfer Harry Lee Bonner succeeded in scoring a total of 68 of them over the space of his 18 year career – quite a mean feat! Few people realise that golf was actually invented in Japan, where the whole country is golf-crazy, with over 2,300 of the most amazing golf courses in the world. And for anyone who wants to play golf somewhere truly out of this world, there are 3 golf balls lying waiting on the moon!

So if the men in your life, or for that matter, the women in your life, have been well and truly zapped by the golf bug, as the festive season approaches, your thoughts will invariably be turning towards xmas gifts and naturally, you will want to celebrate and share in their golfing passion. There is a wide selection of golf-themed Xmas gifts on offer to keep their minds on the fairway while their clubs are stashed away through the winter months. A range of colourful golf-themed books, for instance, are a wise choice that is guaranteed to put a smile on their faces. If ever the avid golfer were to need an excuse to hit the fairways, how about 501 excuses to play golf? This one may be particularly useful for the manager who frequently has to justify his departures from the office to his workforce! Then there’s the book of golf’s classic clangers, which looks at the funny and embarrassing moments from the history of golf which all those golfing celebrities would most likely rather forget!

Everyone loves to receive xmas gifts which have been personalised, as they show that you have taken the time to create something memorable. Personalising your Xmas gifts has got a lot more creative in recent years and you can even personalise your golf-themed Xmas Gifts for extra impact! If he has never been lucky enough to win a trophy for his golfing prowess, now’s your chance to make your golfing buddy’s dreams come true with his own pewter trophy engraved with his name or a special message. There’s even a personalised mug for the golfer who would love to see his own name carved into the sand bunker, or how about having it spelt out in golf carts on the green? If this were not enough, the personalised golf calendar gives you the chance to run wild by spelling out their name in 12 different golf-themed scenes, which makes it fun to design as well as to give.

The festive season is an expensive time for everyone, so if you’re on the lookout for some budget Xmas gifts, look no further. It won’t cost the earth to put a smile on his face with Xmas gifts that are subtle but show him that you have put some thought into your choices. A snazzy pair of golf-themed cufflinks for instance, may be just the thing to add a touch of style and sophistication to his wardrobe, or a golf puzzle to keep him sharpening his skills of patience, concentration and precision while he’s away from the golf course.

So whether its Xmas gifts or stocking fillers you’re looking for, you’ll find there’s more than enough to choose from to show him you care and support his commitment to the game this festive season. Just remember how long and tedious the winter months can be for your golfing addict and how those golf-themed xmas gifts will bring a smile to his face at Christmas and putt a swing in his step when the Spring comes.

Golf used to be the emblematic sport for the rich and famous, a sport only a few privileged ones had access to. This is actually the difference between professional golfers and amateurs – the professionals take the time to learn more and correct their golf swing. You’re probably thinking that professional players also spend a lot of money on golf lessons and you couldn’t possibly afford this luxury. Cameron Strachan offers one of the most innovative approaches to golf swing instruction and will certainly help you improve your game.

The best approach to getting an improved golf swing is to address each swing element individually. Some of the basic areas you will need to look at in order to get a better golf swing include the stance, grip, alignment, ball position, balance, flexibility and the swing plane. Out of all these elements, the grip and stance are considered to be the foundation of any consistent golf swing. You’ve achieved the right stance when your feet are a little more than your shoulder’s width apart. The right grip should always feel comfortable and you should avoid squeezing the club too tight. If you’re arms or back are sore after playing a few rounds of golf you’re stance or grip probably need some correcting.

Once you’ve decided to get some more information on how to achieve a better golf swing you’ll probably be left wondering where to start. We all know the internet offers a world of information on any topic and golf instruction is no exception. However, if you’ll start browsing randomly through websites that pop up first chances are you won’t feel like you’re getting exactly what you were hoping for. Search engines will pull out the semi-relevant websites and in the end you’ll just end up wondering where all the good information is. If you want real golf swing tips from real people there’s only one answer: blogs. Truly passionate golf players have set up blogs in order to share their knowledge with other players from all over the world. At cameronsgolfblog.com you can take a look at what Cameron Strachan has to say about improving your golf swing.

More and more people are choosing golf as their number one leisure activity. This is a sport you can play with your friends and see how you improve each time you’re on the grass. However, if you really want to bring significant improvements to your golf swing you should take up some golf lessons.
